Don’t Take Candy From Strangers 2012 – 2013

by KidsSafe on October 10, 2012

On today’s Intro Wednesday Video, “Trending With Teens” we are talking about a really difficult subject concerning predators, pedophiles and our kids! Just last month a story surfaced about a young teen, the headlines read: “Teen’s Death Is Eerie Reminder About Stranger Danger Online”, it had a very sad ending. Listen to the Stranger Danger interview below:

Because of stories like these and many others concerning our Kids Safety, I will be re-launching our book: “Don’t Take Candy From Strangers” within the next few months. The book will be completely updated for this new 2010 decade. The biggest reason we are doing this is because over the past 5 or 6 years the world-wide web and how we access it, use it and share with it others has dramatically changed.

Hannah Truelove is said to have been a shy teen. And although external beauty isn’t the measure of a person, friends say her inner beauty was equally striking.

She was found dead this past Friday night, just behind the apartment complex where she lived with her mom. Police suspect social media played a role – and they’re looking at Twitter specifically.

You can listen to the Nancy McBride Take 25 minutes interview here:

Spend 25 minutes with us as we talk with Nancy A. McBride, National Safety Director for NCMEC about their new program called Take 25. It was created to heighten awareness about children’s safety issues. With a focus on prevention, the campaign encourages parents, guardians, and other trusted-adult role models to spend time talking to kids and teaching them ways to be safer.

We also talked about measures that can be taken to protect kids, this is the first step in online protection for your KIDS!!
